Angela knew she would be very busy today. The council had received numerous complaints from local tenants and householders regarding the amount of cars parked outside their driveways during the schools drop off and collection times. The council had issued letters for schools to pass on to the parents and children to try and encourage the pupils and parents who lived locally to go to school by bike or walkingrather than in amotor vehicle. Angela was not sure how to find a solution for the problem and mounting complaints letters on her desk.

Due to the fact many of the parents had jobs they had to be at after dropping their children they would be late for work if they had to walk and had said that if they were to go by bike they would not be able to wear a suit while riding therefore would have to get changed at least twice rather than once to preserve their work clothes. Angela could sympathise with both parties as she had been on the receiving end of both problems.

She had a great idea, something she had seen on a television programme a few months earlier. It would solve the motor car problem, be good on the environment and also give the mothers who did take their children to school by foot or bike a monetary incentive. She decided to set up a walking bus, which was basically where the parents who did not work took their children to school walking as well as picking up others from designated spots along the way. She ran the idea past the schools and residents, they were in agreement that this would solve a lot of problems. It would mean that the residents were able to keep their drives free to come and go as they pleased, let the workers remain in their work clothes and be at work on time, take a lot of the motor vehicles from an already crowded village during rush hour and meant that she could finally write back to all the complaints on her desk and tell them that she had solved the problem.

The walking bus was put into play the following week. the working mothers could pay a very small fee to ensure their children were taken to school safely. problem solved for all involved.

Angela was expecting a quiet day in the office, but when she got in there was the usual buzz of telephones ringing and angry tenants, she wondered what had gone wrong, she really thought she had solved the problem. Picking up the phone to Mr Smith, one of the regular complainers, she listened with the phone slightly away from her ear. It turned out that there was something else causing problems at one of the schools and surrounding areas. A massive skip bin hire van had broken down on the street by the school. neighbours could not get in and out of their drives. Angela sighed, a new day a new problem. Looks as though the day was not to be as quiet as she thought.
